Character history: Wilykit was a citizen of the kingdom of Thundera on the planet Third Earth. She and her family lived and worked on a farm rather than inside of the city, growing large, turnip-like vegetables. It wasn't always an easy life, but they were happy.
One day Kit joined her mother, brother and younger siblings in taking lunch out to their father in the field. Then in the middle of the family's meal the weather shifted and a twister formed at the edge of the farm. The twins' mother and little brother and sister were able to get to the safety of the storm shelter, but a large tree fell in front of Kit, Kat and their father blocking their path. The twins' father lifted them both over the trunk of the tree so that they could make it to the shelter; unfortunately, he could not save himself. Kit and her family could only watch helplessly as the cyclone swept up her father and blew him away.
Life became harder for Wilykit and her family after that. Her mother was left as the family's main provider, a thing that wasn't easy to do with the farm destroyed by the twister. Most times there was barely enough food to go around, and their mother often went without food so that her children could eat. Wilykit and Wilykat wanted desperately to help but being kids there wasn't a whole lot that they could do. Then one night they came up with a plan: they would run away from home to find El-Dara, a city of treasure their father had read to them about from his book of stories. Not only would they return home with enough treasure to support the family but their absence would mean things at home would be easier for their mother and siblings with two less mouths to feed.
Believing that the best place to get directions or clues to the location of El-Dara would be Thundera the twins headed there, moving into the slums on the lower ring of the city. But life in the city was far different than it was on the farm; no one paid any attention to two young kittens alone and begging on the streets. One rainy day while they were out begging a rich man bumped into Wilykat dropping his coin purse in the process. At first Kat wanted to keep the money but Kit convinced him to return it. But when they finally tracked the man down instead of being grateful he accused the two kittens of stealing his money; frightened at the prospect of being arrested, they fled and hid in an alley. Kit and her brother realized then that they needed to do whatever it took to survive until they found El-Dara. So they quietly approached a nearby baker's stand, snatched two loaves of bread and ran off.
With those stolen loaves of bread, Kit and Kat began their careers as thieves and pickpockets.
One day Grune, the Thundercats' mightiest warrior, returned to Thundera from his years-long quest to find the Book of Omens. While Grune hadn't found the Book he had returned with a large quantity of Thundrillium. Lord Claudus organized a feast and celebration in honor of Grune and in memory of his comrade Panthro, who had perished during the quest. While most of the population celebrated into the night Wilykit and her brother went to work, picking the pockets of some of Thundera's richer citizens. After "earning" enough money they bought dinner and took it to the abandoned house in the slums that they called home.
But the celebratory atmosphere did not last. Later that night Thundera was attacked by Lizards from both outside and inside the city; the Thundrillium that Grune had brought back was nothing more than a Trojan horse filled with Lizard soldiers. While Lord Claudus led his army and Jaga led the Clerics into battle the civilians were evacuated into underground shelters beneath the city. Being down in the shelter reminded Kit too much of the night their father died, so she and Wilykat quickly headed back above ground. It was a decision that saved their lives: no sooner had the twins gotten out of the shelter than the roof of the shelter was struck by a catapult round and collapsed, crushing everyone already inside.
Above ground, Wilykit and her brother found a safe place to ride out the battle. Unfortunately the Thundercats' bows and arrows, swords and spears were no match for the Lizards' superior technological weapons and their alliance with the evil being Mumm-ra. From their hiding spot the twins witnessed the fall of Thundera and the death of the Lord of the Thundercats.
By morning it was all over. With no one to stop them the Lizards moved through the city looting the empty houses. When the Lizards weren't looking Kit and Kat took the opportunity to do a little looting of their own, taking for themselves things that the Lizards had already stolen. With their home and city destroyed, and believing everyone else to be dead or taken as captives by the Lizards, it seemed like the perfect time for the twins to finally embark on their quest to find El-Dara. As she and her brother scavenged through the remains of the Lizards' tanks outside of the city Wilykit noticed a strange sight: three Cats walking down the road that led to Thundera. As the Cats drew closer she recognized them - the princes Lion-O and Tygra, and the Cleric Cheetara. Happy to see that they weren't the only survivors Kit asked if she and her brother could join the older Cats- at least, until they found El-Dara. When Lion-O refused the twins tagged along anyway, although they claimed they weren't really following them; Lion-O and the others were "just walking in front of us".
Wilykit and Kat continued "not following" the three older Cats for miles and days, until they reached the Sand Sea. It was there that they ran afoul of Koinelius Tunar and his crew of Fishmen. At first the Cats became the Fishmen's prisoners, but they were all released when they helped defend the ship from a creature called the Ramlak. For their bravery the Cats were made part of the crew; while the adults remained on deck Wilykit and Wilykat were taken down to the galley to be fed. They feasted on whatever dishes the cook could think up, seemingly unaware of his intent on fattening the kittens up so that he could cook them. But when the cook tried to add them to his pot Kit and Kat turned the tables, incapacitating him with a super-spicy dish of their own. After the Ramlak was killed by Lion-O the Fishmen released their Cat prisoners. Impressed by the twins' ingenuity Lion-O agreed to letting them travel with him, Tygra and Cheetara, just so long as they were able to take care of themselves.
Several more days of traveling took the Cats out of the Sand Sea and into a grassy, forested area. While they were at camp for the night Kit accepted a dare from her brother to kiss a froog. But the lighthearted atmosphere dissipated when they noticed the Lizard army advancing on their position. Despite Tygra's insistence that they stand and fight against the Lizards Lion-O ordered the Cats to retreat into the nearby Briar Wood. It was here that the Cats encountered the Petalars, a race of small flower-like beings whose lifespan was only a mere twenty-four hours. The Thundercats befriended one Petalar in particular, Emrick, and promised to help the flower-people get to a place called the Cliff of Winds; from there they would be able to return to their home kingdom of The Garden. Wilykit and her brother quickly bonded with the flower-people on the journey and coaxed Lion-O's pet Snarf into letting a few of the younger Petalars ride him.
Unfortunately the Cats were followed into Briar Wood by the Lizards, and they were ambushed as they reached the Gate to the cliff. The Cats were swiftly outmatched but received help from the Petalars out of gratitude for the Cats' help in getting them to the Cliff. The Petalars stunned the Lizards, enabling the Cats to regain the upper hand. The leader of the Lizards, Slithe, then commanded that Briar Wood be torched. The fire that consumed Briar Wood created an updraft - the perfect conditions for the Petalars to escape. Under the watchful eye of the Thundercats and serenaded by Wilykit on her flute, the Petalars flew away from Briar Wood back to The Garden.
Once the Petalars had safely gotten away it was time for the Cats to find their own way out, but Lion-O declared that they would go back and face the Lizards whatever the outcome. The Thundercats charged out of Briar Wood where they engaged the Lizard army; as before, they were outmatched and quickly found themselves surrounded. Just when the Lizards were about to kill them an unknown vehicle arrived and quickly dispatched them. The driver of the vehicle revealed himself to be Panthro, the one who Grune claimed had died during their quest to find the Book of Omens.
After Panthro joined the group with his Thundertank the journey to find the Book of Omens got a lot easier, mainly because the Thundertank made getting across Third Earth quicker. After a matter of days they managed to find the entrance to the Tower of Omens where the Book was said to be kept. The path turned out to be filled with many obstacles and boobytraps, placed there by the ancient Clerics to safeguard the Book from thieves. Each member of the group was able to use their special talents to disable or solve the boobytraps and reach the Tower of Omens. Unfortunately Mumm-Ra had gotten there just ahead of them, having been led there by the captured spirit of Jaga. A battle to get to the Book first ensued between Mumm-Ra and the Cats and it was only thanks to Jaga's sacrifice that the Cats were able to emerge victorious with the Book.
Unfortunately, the Book of Omens was completely blank.
As Lion-O tried to figure out the secrets of the Book, the other Cats milled around the Tower of Omens trying to figure out what their next move was and mourning Jaga's death. Late in the afternoon Cheetara summoned them to the Tower's upper platform, where she had found Lion-O collapsed. He awoke not long afterward with a story to tell, how his spirit had gone into the Book of Omens and he had seen the past of not only the Thundercats, but Mumm-Ra, the Lizards and many other Animal species as well and how they had all come to Third Earth. He told them about the origin of the Eye of Thundera, the other three Stones that had given Mumm-Ra his power and how they had been scattered across the planet.
And so the Thundercats' journey began again, but with a new purpose: to find the three remaining Stones before Mumm-Ra and to unite the Animal species once more against his tyranny.
Panthro and Tygra rigged the Book of Omens up to the Thundertank to make finding the Stones easier, but the end result nearly killed the vehicle. The Cats found unexpected help from a race of mechanical bears called Berbils who were whizzes at construction and mechanics. In return, they asked that the Cats help protect them from Conquedor the slave trader who regularly attacked the Berbil village to capture Berbils to sell as slaves. While staying with the Berbils Kit and Kat discovered the candy fruit that was the Berbils' primary harvest, which gave them a sugar rush the likes of which they'd never experienced before.
Once the Thundertank was repaired and upgraded thanks to the Berbils the Cats set out on their quest once more. Soon enough the Book detected one of the Stones, the Spirit Stone, in a village inhabited by Elephants. While Lion-O trained with Anet to achieve harmony between himself and the Sword of Omens Wilykit befriended Aburn, bonding over their shared interest in music. What started out as a solo performance on her flute turned into a concerto when Kit was joined by Aburn and the other Elephants, ending in a note that resonated loud enough to crush rock. Later in the evening a stone giant attacked the Elephant village; the giant had previously been kept away from the village by the loud buzzing of the insect-like Wraiths, which Lion-O had destroyed earlier because they had stolen the Elephants' crops. None of the other Cats' weapons had any affect on the giant, until Wilykit and the Elephants pulled out their stone-shattering note of perfect harmony.
After a brief detour to the Forest of Magi-Or so that Lion-O could master the ability of Sight Beyond Sight the Cats returned to the Elephant village for the Spirit Stone, only to find that Grune and the Lizards had gotten there before them and taken the Elephants hostage. On Lion-O's suggested the Cats waited until nightfall to sneak into the village. But when Grune threatened to kill Aburn Wilykit blew the Cats' cover, rushing into the village in order to save him. Kit was forced to throw down her flute when Grune ordered the Cats to surrender their weapons in exchange for not killing his hostages. Fortunately Tygra had been able to slip away and came to the rescue in the Thundertank, giving the other Cats time to retrieve their weapons and beat the Lizards back.
Once Grune and the Lizards had been driven away Tygra and Lion-O entered the Astral Plane to retrieve the Spirit Stone, leaving the other Cats to wait in the village. While they waited Panthro told Kit and her brother the story about how Grune had lost one of his front teeth to save himself and Panthro from a giant spider; the moral was "any sacrifice is worth the defeat of your enemy". But the peace was broken when Grune and the Lizards attacked the village again, and the Cats were forced to defend it and the gate to the Astral Plane. Once again the Lizards were thoroughly routed, this time with help from the Elephants.
Tygra and Lion-O succeeded in retrieving the Spirit Stone and escaping from the Astral Plane before it deteriorated. Grune was pulled into the Astral Plane during his fight with Panthro, whose arms were caught in the gate as it closed and were severed at the shoulder. That night the Elephants and the Cats celebrated their victory, with Wilykit, Aburn and some of the other elephants providing the music.
Once they were assured that the Elephants were safe, the Thundercats returned to the Berbil village in the hopes that the mechanical bears could build Panthro a pair of prosthetic arms. While the Cats were there Wilykit and her brother received their own gift from the Berbils, a pair of hoverboards. Using their new toys, Wilykit and Wilykat helped Lion-O, Tygra and Cheetara lead several squadrons of Lizards into an ambush in a nearby ravine, where they convinced them to leave Mumm-Ra's army and go back to their families.
After Panthro's new arms were completed (and the Berbils also performed some more upgrades to the Thundertank) the Thundercats continued their quest to find the two remaining Stones. While hiking up the trail of a steep cliff they were ambushed by a squadron of Lizards led by Slythe and Mumm-Ra's two new generals Addicus and Kaynar. The Cats were quickly overwhelmed, and Slythe threatened to have Addicus kill Wilykit if Lion-O didn't surrender the Sword of Omens and the gauntlet with the Spirit Stone in it. Lion-O did so, but then attacked Slythe for the items; he was able to get the gauntlet back but was pushed over the edge of the cliff in the struggle for the sword, plummeting into the river below.
With Lion-O seemingly dead the remaining Thundercats became prisoners, and they started the journey to Mumm-ra's pyramid. But they never reached it. While Tygra distracted the guards Kit and Kat used their lockpicking skills to free themselves before freeing the others, and the Thundercats escaped. But Slythe still had the Sword of Omens and Tygra vowed to get it back. To do so, they would have to infiltrate Mumm-Ra's pyramid. Despite what the others told her Wilykit insisted that Lion-O would come back, and she left drawings on rocks to mark their path so that he could find them.
With a little help from Wilykit and her flute the Thundercats were able to get inside the pyramid and into Mumm-Ra's inner sanctum. But the ancient being was too strong for them, and the Thundercats were taken prisoner again. Through it all Wilykit was still adamant in her belief that Lion-O would rescue them and get the Sword of Omens back, despite Cheetara and Tygra trying to tell her otherwise.
And save them Lion-O did, appearing from out of nowhere and releasing them from their cell. He led the Thundercats in another attempt to reclaim the Sword of Omens, one that this time succeeded. The Thundercats left Mumm-Ra's temple as the sun was rising, only for Lion-O to tell them that he had to leave. As Kit and the others questioned and protested Jaga's spirit appeared to all of them and explained that Lion-O had made the ultimate sacrifice for them, but he would not have to die - he had been granted a second chance at life. Finally Lion-O told the others about what had happened to him after he'd gone over the cliff, and the trials he had to go through in order to be given a second chance at life by the Spirit Stone.
After reclaiming the Sword and escaping Mumm-Ra the Thundercats resumed their quest once again. They stopped at the base of a mountain range, and while Tygra and Lion-O went on ahead to find a safe shortcut through Wilykit and Wilykat stayed with Panthro, Cheetara and Snarf in the Thundertank. Fed up with the twins' whining about there being no food, Panthro decided that it was time for them to learn how to hunt. It would be a men versus girls challenge; whoever brought back the least amount of food would have to cook.
Wilykit found herself paired up with Cheetara as they tracked a female chib-chib through the woods. Cheetara tried to show Wilykit how to use strong-smelling plants to mask her scent from her prey, but Kit just thought that it was gross. And when it came time for them to kill the chib-chib Kit was unable to go through with it and she ruined the hunt to let the animal get away. When the girls met back up with the boys they found out that Panthro and Wilykat's hunt had gone similarly. Annoyed and believing that the twins weren't taking the exercise seriously, Cheetara issued an ultimatum: come back to the Tank with food, or sleep outside.
With no other choice Wilykit and Wilykat ventured back into the woods and ended up tracking the male chib-chib that Kat and Panthro had been hunting earlier. Reluctantly they prepared to ambush and kill it, but stopped when the female appeared leading two babies. As they watched the family interact Kit and her brother knew they couldn't go through with killing the chib-chibs, and decided to head back to face the music. But as they turned around a large wild boar-like creature emerged from the woods and attacked the chib-chibs. Kit and Kat immediately jumped in to help, Kit using her flute to calm the beast down while Kat used his bolos to restrain it. The kittens were then led by the grateful chib-chib family to a large fruit-bearing tree. When Wilykit and Wilykat returned to the Thundertank it was with a large bagful of the fruit. Although Panthro was disappointed that they hadn't brought back any meat he admitted that there might be hope for the twins yet.
After getting through the mountains the Thundercats reached the desert; running low on supplies they stopped at the City of Dogs. Reminiscing about the dogs they used to hang out with in Thundera's slums - and the bone stew they would eat - Wilykit and Wilykat ran off on their own to explore. While they were enjoying some bone stew the twins encountered a fellow pickpocket, a raccoon named Tookit. Tookit was a skilled pickpocket who had a habit of stealing things that were complete junk. While talking with the kittens Tookit snatched Kit's flute and Kat's bolo tool; when Kit and Kat realized their stuff was missing they immediately went after him. Tookit refused to give the items back until the kittens could prove they as good pickpockets as they claimed to be.
Wilykit and her brother cruised the marketplace and stole a blanket, a cane and a button per Tookit's instructions, then took the items back to him and asked for their stuff back so that they could return what the items that they had stolen. Unfortunately their pickpocketing had not gone unnoticed, and the three of them wound up being chased through the market by the people they had stolen from. They got away only by the skill of Tookit, who used the items Kit and Kat had stolen to help them escape (as well as get a bit of money as well). As Tookit took his leave of the kittens they admitted he wasn't such a bad person...until they realized that he still had their stuff.
While the adults headed on a mission to Mount Plundarr to free the Thundercat slaves there, Kit and Kat searched the market for Tookit. When they found him Tookit tried to convince the two to team up with him and become pickpockets again but Kit and Kat refused, only wanting their things back. Tookit took them to his home and brought them into his "Forever Bag", an ordinary-looking bag whose inside was the entire Astral Plane. Kat and Kit got their things back, received gifts from Tookit and also made the acquaintance of Albo, Jenyo and Gusto - three orphans that Tookit had taken under his wing and turned into pickpockets.
After leaving the bag and Tookit the kittens waited on the street for the adults to return - and started having second thoughts about him. But things turned sour when they opened the gifts that Tookit had given them, only to be arrested by the police for possession of stolen property and suspicion of stealing. Kit and Kat would have been destined for the Pit if Albo, Jenyo and Gusto hadn't come along and broken them out and helped them escape into the Forever Bag. Unwilling to chance facing the constable again outside the bag, Kit and her brother agreed to hang out with Tookit and his gang until the adults came back.
Tookit decided to "celebrate" the twins' decision the only way he and his three proteges knew how: by stealing. He took the Forever Bag into a candy store and left it there after closing, allowing the children to emerge and steal as much candy as they could before Tookit and the store owner returned. The next night they robbed a toy store in the same manner. The fun ended for Kit and Kat when they found out that not only were their new friends stealing snacks and toys, but they were also stealing money. Not wanting to get into real trouble they left the bag again, only to discover that they had been proclaimed wanted criminals and posters of them were up all over the city. Wilykit and her brother had to retreat to the Forever Bag again.
Once back in the bag the twins confronted Tookit who confessed that he needed their skills on a heist he was planning. He offered them a choice: join his crew, or try their luck on the streets where the police were looking for them. Left with no other choice they agreed to join. But the Wily twins weren't going to go down without a fight, and with the help of their new friends devised a plan to get everyone out.
That night the Forever Bag was left in a jewelry store where Tookit wanted them to steal a large ruby. It seemed like an easy job, until the store's three guard frog-dogs showed up. Kit used her flute to put the beasts to sleep while Kat grabbed the ruby, then they both got out. That was when they put their plan into action, fooling Tookit with duplicate copies of the Forever Bag and getting him to confess his crimes in the presence of the constable. Thanks to their cunning Tookit was arrested and Albo, Jenyo and Gusto were freed from his influence. And the Forever Bag found a new home with the twins.
No sooner had the adults returned than the Book of Omens began to signal the presence of another Stone, but for some reason the beam was shooting straight up into the sky. There was nothing to do but wait around while Panthro tried to repair it. To pass the time while Panthro, Tygra and Lion-O went to find parts Kit and her brother got to know the newest member of their group: Pumyra, a fellow Thundercat who had been a slave before being freed by Lion-O.
Once they figured out that the third stone was somewhere above them the Cats salvaged an airship from the lair of the Soul Sever in order to find it; while the adults got the ship in working order, Wilykit and her brother painted the emblem of the Thundercats on the ship's side. They also gave the ship it's name: the Feliner. It wasn't exactly a smooth flight at first, until Tygra took the controls. As they flew over Third Earth Kit, Kat and Pumyra watched out the windows at the scenery below, recognizing and pointing out the places they had visited like the Elephant Village and the Enchanted Forest, before Tygra took the Feliner up above the clouds. That was where they found the city in the sky.
The city was Avista City, home to the Birdmen. They were met by the prefect Vultaire and invited to a dinner as guests of honor. Wilykit was warned by Panthro, as was her brother, to mind her manners and eat everything that was put on her plate; unfortunately the menu of seed and insect-based dishes wasn't exactly appealing. So Kit and Kat turned to the Forever Bag and pulled out some candy to eat instead.
When Vultaire refused to hand over the Tech Stone Tygra challenged him to a race in one of the Birds' flying machines for it. Vultaire accepted with the addition that if Tygra lost the Thundercats would hand the War and Spirit Stones over to the Birds. Wilykit joined the other Cats in cheering Tygra on through the race, keeping count of how many rings he captured, and when he won came over to congratulate him. But Vultaire accused Tygra of cheating; he refused to hand over the Stone and ordered that the Thundercats be taken to their quarters and placed under heavy guard.
Which wasn't a problem; the Cats simply broke some windows to escape from their room, and went to find the third Stone.
Once they were out Lion-O ordered the twins to go with Snarf back to the Feliner and to wait for the adults to return. Unfortunately the ship was also under guard, and they overheard one of them learning of the Cats' escape. While Snarf distracted the guards the kids went to the Feliner - but they didn't stay there. Instead they retrieved their hoverboards and headed back down to Third Earth to get some kind of help. They traversed the planet via hoverboard, visiting all of the groups the Cats had encountered and helped during their travels: the Dogs, the Elephants, the Berbils and the Fishmen.
Once back on Avista Kit and her brother found their friends doing battle against Mumm-Ra - and Pumyra. The newest member of their group turned out to have been working with Mumm-Ra the whole time, and with her help the evil being had obtained the Tech Stone. With the addition of Kit and Kat's reinforcements Mumm-Ra and Pumyra were forced to retreat. The loss of the Tech Stone meant that Avista City was rapidly falling to the surface, but thanks to Panthro it landed safely on Third Earth.
After the battle Wilykit tracked down Lion-O, who had gone off by himself depressed that he had been betrayed by Pumyra and that Mumm-Ra now had one of the Stones. The young kitten pointed out that while the Tech Stone might have been lost, the different animal species of Third Earth had come together for a common goal because of Lion-O. Picking up the Sword of Omens and presenting it to Lion-O, Kit asked whether or not they were going to go on to find the third Stone. In response Lion-O took the Sword and held it aloft.
Character personality: On the surface Wilykit appears to be a cute, cunning and mischievous little trickster. Although mostly humanoid Kit does exhibit some cat-like traits, such as purring when she's happy or mewling and using the "cute kitten" look on adults to try and get her way. Other than that Kit is just like any kid, eating too much sugar, not always doing what she's told and complaining about adults.
But a closer look reveals that Kit isn't the common street urchin she appears to be. Her parents had raised her and her brother with the belief that you had to work for what you wanted in life, and if you worked hard enough you could achieve your goals. For that reason Wilykit was extremely reluctant to steal from other cats once she and her brother reached Thundera. It was only when they were on the brink of starving to death that Kit and her brother realized that they would have to compromise their beliefs if they wanted to survive to find El Dara. While sometimes the prospect of treasure Kit won't hesitate to try and swipe some, for the most part she won't hurt or steal from those who haven't done harm to her or to others.
Kit is loyal to her family and those she considers family, which includes the rest of the Thundercats.
